Born in Genoa on January 13th, 1961, Dario attended the Classical Lyceum in Italy, and then relocated with his family to Toronto, Canada in 1977, where he continued his education at the Dante Alighieri Academy and pursued his studies in Business Economics at the University of Toronto. After a brief stint in the family lumber brokerage business, Dario obtained his Real Estate License in 1983 and decided to enter the real estate industry. Initially, he worked as an agent at W. Lerman Real Estate in Toronto. Later, in 1984, he co-founded his own company, Orion Realty Corporation, together with Ralph Del Duca as his partner.
In 1994, he also served on the Ethics Appeal Committee of the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board.
Starting in 1990, he began exploring the potential launch of franchising and marketing systems aimed at the Italian market. By the end of 1994, he initiated discussions with RE/MAX Europe for the development of real estate franchising in Italy. He secured funding through the collaboration of his Canadian partners and, as Managing Director, established the operational center for Proximm S.p.A., the RE/MAX licensee for Italy, in November 1995. Following 1996, the first full operating year of RE/MAX in Italy, many milestones were achieved under Dario Castiglia’s leadership. RE/MAX has since become one of the most significant and qualified real estate companies in Italy.
In 2018, Dario Castiglia founded 24MAX SpA S.p.A., a company jointly owned by RE/MAX Italia and 24Finance SpA. This company’s unique business model provides property buyers with the support of highly qualified Credit Specialists who assist them on financial matters.
Dario Castiglia was ranked among Forbes’ “100 TOP ITALIAN MANAGERS,” a list that recognizes top managers leading successful companies. These individuals are either founders of large companies or have achieved success in small and medium-sized enterprises, showcasing their skill and future vision.
In 2020, under Dario’s leadership, RE/MAX Italia received the international Region of the Year award in recognition of its management during the pandemic and the results achieved throughout the year.
In 2023, RE/MAX Italy completed the acquisition of 49% of the shares of the credit mediation company 24MAX S.p.A., previously owned by 24Finance Credit Mediation S.p.A. With this transaction, Proximm S.p.A., the company holding the RE/MAX master franchise for Italy, now holds the entire Class A share package of 24MAX.
Dario Castiglia was also a member of Fimec, FIABCI, The International Real Estate Federation, and Fimaa Italia Confcommercio.
